Job Description
QAFCO is seeking an experienced Sr. Category Specialist to support the Head of Category in developing and implementing procurement and contracting strategies across multiple business categories. The successful candidate will oversee procurement activities throughout the complete need-to-pay process while ensuring compliance with company policies, procurement procedures, and international best practices.
The selected professional will supervise supplier prequalification, manage tendering processes, evaluate bids, negotiate commercial agreements, and oversee contract preparation and administration. You will be responsible for ensuring procurement activities support business objectives while reducing operational risks and maximizing value.
A significant part of the role involves managing supplier relationships, monitoring contractor performance, resolving contractual issues, and leading negotiations for complex procurement projects. You will also work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure procurement strategies align with operational requirements and long-term business goals.
The role requires strong experience using procurement technologies such as SAP, SAP Ariba, DocuSign, Sievo, and other digital procurement platforms. Candidates should also be comfortable working with procurement analytics, reporting category KPIs, and identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
As a senior member of the procurement team, you will mentor junior Category Specialists, support employee development, assist with performance management, and help build future procurement talent by coaching fresh graduates. You will also contribute to improving procurement processes through the adoption of AI tools, automation technologies, and digital transformation initiatives.
Strong communication, leadership, analytical thinking, and contract management skills are essential for success in this position.
Qualification
Required Education
Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Procurement, or another relevant discipline.
Professional certifications such as CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply), CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management), or equivalent procurement certifications will be considered a strong advantage.
Required Experience
Applicants should have a minimum of 8 years of direct procurement and contracting experience within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Chemical Manufacturing, Fertilizer, or Large Industrial Manufacturing sectors.
Previous experience should include:
- Strategic sourcing and category management
