Key Responsibilities

As a Porter, you will support the smooth running of hospital operations by carrying out a variety of important tasks, including:

  • Transport patients safely between wards, departments, and treatment areas.
  • Assist patients using wheelchairs, stretchers, and hospital trolleys.
  • Help move patients safely between beds and trolleys using approved lifting equipment.
  • Deliver medical records, laboratory samples, X-rays, reports, and hospital supplies.
  • Transport medical equipment throughout the hospital.
  • Replace and move oxygen cylinders and other medical gas cylinders safely.
  • Collect and dispose of laundry, hospital waste, and clinical waste according to hospital procedures.
  • Clean hospital equipment and designated work areas while following infection control guidelines.
  • Support nurses with linen, bedding, and other general ward duties.
  • Handle telephone, reception, and switchboard duties when required.
  • Maintain stock supplies and report low inventory levels.
  • Lock and unlock hospital doors when necessary.
  • Carry out basic grounds maintenance during weekends or public holidays if assigned.
  • Respond professionally to staff, visitor, and patient requests.

Qualification

Required Education
