Job Description

The Head, IT Support Jobs in Doha Qatar position is responsible for leading all IT support services across the university. The successful professional will ensure that students, faculty members, and administrative staff receive timely and effective technical assistance while maintaining excellent service standards.

The role also involves planning future technology support strategies, managing operational budgets, supervising technical teams, monitoring service performance, and implementing improvements that enhance the overall user experience.

Working closely with university leadership, the Head of IT Support will play a key role in supporting the institution’s digital transformation initiatives and ensuring that IT services align with the university’s long-term strategic goals.


Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be expected to:

  • Lead the university’s IT Service Desk and daily support operations.
  • Ensure quick resolution of technical incidents and user requests.
  • Monitor service quality, response times, and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop better support processes that improve operational efficiency.
  • Identify recurring technical issues and implement long-term solutions.
  • Create user guides, documentation, and self-service knowledge resources.
  • Deliver IT awareness and training sessions for staff and students.
  • Manage relationships with external technology vendors and service providers.
  • Oversee contracts for hardware, software, and technical services.
  • Prepare operational reports and analyze support performance metrics.
  • Manage departmental budgets and allocate resources effectively.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of incidents and support activities.
  • Communicate planned maintenance and service interruptions professionally.
  • Lead, mentor, and evaluate IT support staff through regular performance reviews.
  • Support technology projects aligned with the university’s strategic objectives.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by university management.

Qualification

Required Education

Applicants should possess:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a closely related discipline.
  • Master’s Degree is highly preferred.
  • Professional IT certifications are considered an advantage.
  • Additional certifications in IT Service Management or Infrastructure Management will strengthen an application.

Required Experience

Candidates should have:

  • Minimum 7 years of professional IT experience.
  • Previous experience working within Higher Education institutions.
  • Proven leadership experience managing IT support teams.
  • Experience overseeing enterprise service desks.
  • Background in vendor management and IT operations.
  • Experience managing IT budgets and operational planning.
  • Knowledge of service improvement methodologies.
